Catherine Ritch

Catherine came to Georgia in 1980 and fell in love with the North Georgia mountains.  Her fondness for nature has been the catalyst for her art. Plein air oil painting is her passion. She hikes and paints the beautiful local countryside. Winter brings her indoors to her studio where she paints directly from life. 

In her work she tries to capture a sense of place and what that means to her as an artist. Her purpose is not to replicate the specific or dwell on the spectacular, as much as it is to observe and discover the beauty in the seemingly unspectacular. Catherine's skills have led her to a number of awards for artistic achievement.

She is a member of Plein Air Fine Art Association, Blue Ridge Mountain Art Center, Blackberry Creek Artists, Southern Appalachian Artist Guild and the Quinlan Art Center. She is proudly represented in the Hall House Fine Art Gallery in Dahlonega, Georgia.
